The Rutherford Bench is renowned for producing extremely high-quality cabernet sauvignon. Stretching three miles along the west side of Highway 29, between the towns of Oakville and Rutherford, the area lies on the gravelly bed of an ancient stream, with rich, volcanogenic alluvial soils.
