Morisoli-Borges Vineyard
Cabernet Sauvignon
Rutherford, Napa Valley

The Morisoli-Borges Vineyard is located within the Rutherford AVA, on the west side of Highway 29, south of Niebaum Lane. Perched on the famed Rutherford Bench, the soils here are ideal for cabernet sauvignon — gravel-rich, alluvial, and volcanic. The vines here are 20 years old on average.

“The soils here are very unique and each vine has a little something different to say. Drawing that out in a way that moves the taster is an incredibly exciting challenge.”

The Morisoli family have been continuously farming this land for 130 years, starting with Mike Morisoli’s great grandfather, Rocco, in 1890. What makes it spectacular, as Mike tells us, are the well-drained silt-clay soils with lots of gravel. Cool nights, good afternoon sun, and frequent overcast mornings in the summer all contribute to great acid/fruit balance and a well-rounded structure.
